Pastor Troy Sowden
Pastor Troy's full time ministry experience dates back nearly fifteen years. He studied Youth Ministry at Toccoa Falls College in Georgia before moving to Tulsa, OK in 2001 to intern for Church on the Move. After four years of training there, he moved to MIssissippi to found and lead our youth ministry, the662 in the fall of 2005 under CityChurch's Founding Pastor, Jason Delgado.
While primarily heading up the youth ministry, Pastor Troy offered leadership in various different capacities and was involved in virtually every department of CityChurch during his time as Youth Pastor. After seven years on staff, CityChurch unanimously elected him and his wife Melody as Lead Pastors, a role they assumed on April 1st, 2012. Their desire is to reach those far from God with His love, mercy and purpose for their lives.
Troy and Melody have a three year old son, Judah, and a one year old daughter, Alexa. The four of them reside in Olive Branch Troy is a sports junky whose longtime love of Seattle sports finally paid off with the Seahawks victory in Super Bowl XLVIII. Pray for him. Hailing from Lancaster, PA, Melody began serving in ministry the first chance she got. Directly out of high school she moved to Tulsa, OK to intern for Oneighty, the youth ministry of Church on the Move. During her time there she met Troy and the two began a lasting friendship that years later would blossom into love.
Melody went on to attend Southeastern University in Lakeland, FL, where she graduated with a degree in Psychology and minors in Christian Counseling and Bible. Two days after her graduation, Troy proposed, and she soon moved to Southaven to marry Troy and join CityChurch.
Melody has a wide-range of gifts including administration, organization and communication, and a huge heart for married couples as well as young girls.
Outside of ministry Melody's passions include baking, couponing and of course, Troy, Judah and Alexa.
