CITYGROUPS

God has wired us for relationships. Introvert or extrovert, young or old, big or small, this need for human connection is embedded deeply into our DNA. Small groups here at CityChurch, known as CityGroups, provide a place for you to Grow, Connect, and Protect. Simply being around other believers can be a huge encouragement throughout your week. And as we draw closer to each other, we make each other BETTER. That doesn't happen just by seeing each other once a week on Sundays, it happens when you choose to do life together.

CityGroups Provide Three Things:

A Place to GROW

Proverbs 27:17

As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.

Anything that’s healthy grows! CityGroups help us stay healthy and empower us to grow as followers of Jesus.

A Place to CONNECT

1 Corinthians 9:22 (LB)

...yes, whatever a person is like, I try to find common ground with him so he will let me tell him about Christ and let Christ save him.

The older we get, the harder it can be to get to know new people. And as much as we love Sunday services at CityChurch, they are primarily built to help us connect with God, and making real connections with others in the midst of everything going on can be challenging. CityGroups provide a smaller venue with a slower pace that is structured to help you make genuine connections with others.

A Place to PROTECT

1 John 3:16 (NLT)

“We know what real love is because Christ gave up His life for

us. And so we also ought to give up our lives for our Christian brothers and sisters.”

The reality is life can be tough. At any given moment any of us can be in a difficut season, coming out of a difficult season or heading into a difficult season. CityGroups give us a circle to surround us when life gets hard, and a chance to be part of that circle for others when they need it.

COMMUNITY

MATTERS

We have been created to live in community and not in isolation. While our physical reality may be that we live in community, our spiritual, social, and relational reality can often be one of life-sucking isolation. We find ourselves with no one to turn to when we have a major issue that has just surfaced in our life. Living in community affords us the opportunity to more wholly experience God through close relationships as we play and pray together, as we encourage and help one another, and as we study and live out God’s Word together.

AND LET US CONSIDER HOW WE MAY SPUR ONE ANOTHER ON TOWARD LOVE AND GOOD DEEDS. LET US NOT GIVE UP MEETING TOGETHER, AS SOME ARE IN THE HABIT OF DOING, BUT LET US ENCOURAGE ONE ANOTHER - AND ALL THE MORE AS YOU SEE THE DAY APPROACHING.
